Hallyeohaesang National Park
Halleyo Maritime National Park was designated as a National Park in 1968. It is composed of parts of the southern coast and Namhaedo Island and Geojedo Island of the southern coast. Hallyeo Maritime National Park is famous for Odongdo island, which is covered with camellias and subtropical plants, and incredibly beautiful sunrise and sunset on Haegeumgang of Geojedo, Bijindo Island – famous for its native plant, Palsonyi Tree. Hansan Island is especially important because this is the grounds where General Lee Sun-Shin won the Imjinwaeran (War by Japan’s invasion of Korea in 1592).
Hallyeo Maritime National Park is well known for the beautiful sea, islands and seashores. Since there are many sites to visit, many visitors come in summer on vacation, and others return in spring or autumn on excursion trips. Among these sites, Geoje Haegeumgang river and Oedo Island Marine Tourism Farm, also knwon as the Paradise of Korea, are highly popular tourist courses.
Tongyoung

Tongyeong City is centered near the islands of Hallyeo Haesang National Park. It is bordered on three sides by the sea and the coast is dotted with as many as 150 islands. Being a rather small island, it has preserved its cleanliness and beauty, and features the Yuja and Chungmu Gimbab (rice wrapped with seaweed), and hosts the annual Hansandae Festival.

In Mt. Nammangsan, there is a citizens’ park where you can view Tongyeong. At the top of the mountain stands a bronze statue of General Lee Sun-Shin (Chungmugong) built by the citizens in 1953, and Suhyangjeong Pavilion. Under the Suhyangjeong Pavilion, there is Citizens’ Cultural Center. Right under this center is Nammangsan Outdoor Sculptural Park.
Nammangsan Sculpture Park was established to display the persistent works of 15 famous sculptors from 10 countries (Japan, China, France, Israel, Venezuela, etc.) who participated in the Tongyeong International Sculpture Symposium. It is also a popular spot for dates because this 30 square kilometer land has beautiful sculptures from which you can feel the individual taste of the artists.
Geojedo Island
Geojedo Island is Korea's second largest island with breathtaking scenery. At Jangpyeong-ri, pass the great bridge and it will directly guide you to Geojedo Island, which has most of the tourist attractions of the South Sea. Haegeumgang, Mongdol Beach and Oedo Island Paradise Island are the most popular sites among them.
Haegeumgang, an island made of rocks, belongs to Hallyeo Marina National Park and is also called the Geumgang of the South Sea. It is famous for sunset and sunrise and the unique rocks. Also, Hakdong Mongdol Beach, made of pebbles called Mongdol, has camellias and fairy pits in spring, and comes alive as a beach resort in summer. Oedo Paradise Island, which recently became a popular site, is called the ‘Paradise of Korea’ because of over 3,000 kinds of decorated trees and the Mediterranean style buildings stand on this 264 square km land. This island is a poplar site for shooting soap dramas due to the combination of the exotic atmosphere and sea.
Geojedo Island is historically a significant place. Memorial services are held annually in memory of General Lee Sun-Shin at the Okpodaecheop (war) Memorial Park, built in memory of the battle of Okpo(1592.5.7 - 5.8). Geojedo Island also had the biggest concentration camp during the Korean War, and the camp has been restored as a historical relics site.
