    Sightseeing / Incheon China Town
    Admin     Fri Jun 30, 2006 1:07 pm

Address : Seollin-dong / Bukseong-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon

Description
Incheon's Chinatown area came into being with the opening of the Incheon Port in 1883 and Incheon's designation as an extraterritoriality of the Ching Dynasty. In the past, the area held many stores trading goods imported from China, but now most Chinese businesses are restaurants.
Today, the Chinese residents of Chinatown are mostly 2nd or 3rd generations of early Chinese settlers. While not all traditional cultures of the first generation have been preserved, the area still harbors many of the flavors of China.

Travel TIPS
Across from the Incheon Subway Station Square, a distinctive gate marking the entrance to Chinatown can be seen, from which starts the streets of Chinatown. At the other end of Chinatown is Jayu Park, from where visitors can catch a panoramic view of Incheon.

Local Transportation
From Incheon station (Seoul Subway Line 1), walk 2 min.
